Four On The Fourth, Phoenix style. Had to be out of town, so couldn’t run the Carrboro race, but wanted to keep the tradition alive.

Glad I did…fun race. Bigger and faster than expected. A lot of high school and college students running (pardon the pun) blazing speeds in the heat. Race started at 6:30 and 86°…and ended at 92° a short time later.

Finished and cheered other runners coming in…most of whom were probably wondering about the exuberant dude yelling… Props to the race organizers and volunteers, as the event went smoothly, had plenty of food and water at the after-party.

Went out too fast, but went with it, as I was in a pack of younger runners who kept me moving through mile two. Took mile four easy…no point in ruining my legs…there’s speed training to be run tomorrow… Definitely a positive split and could have picked up 20-30 seconds overall, but had an awesome time.
